JSON Formatting Trick

I like my to JSON look pretty. Even if I have to break a rule or two.

So this is a bit hacky. I’ll say that right away, but I’m okay with that.

I like to store all of my site’s content in a central document where it is easily editable.  Currently my format of choice is JSON, which is great… for the most part. My biggest annoyance with JSON is that it doesn’t allow line returns or tabs within a string of text. For example, If I were to use JSON to contain lyrics of a song I might want to format it like so:

You guys, it’s about time.

After meaning to do this for a long time, we’re finally starting our company blog.

Over the past few years we’ve had to overcome some major hurdles. We’ve dealt with everyday things like a chunk of code that refuses to do what we want and we’ve gone through larger things like the death of flash (dead to us at least!). Now that we’ve started this blog we’ll probably recap some of our more interesting discoveries and we’ll do our best to keep posting as more come up. I assume these will mostly be technical posts, but who knows…

Oh, can I just add that I was taught to use two spaces after a period in middle school typing class. Now I understand that to be incorrect, but if you see a double space on here, hate the system.
